BIG4 parks are well-known for their amazing innovations for guests.

We’ve seen the introduction of day spas and diners and a whole assortment of weird and wonderful accommodation – more at the bottom of this article.

And just last year, a holiday park in Port Stephens, NSW has created an industry first by opening a ten-pin bowling alley.

That’s right. A bowling alley. In the park.

We spoke to the team at BIG4 Ingenia Holidays Soldiers Point to learn all about this striking feature.

Where did the inspiration come from?

We were looking for another all-weather attraction at the park that was family friendly and would appeal to kids of all ages.

We looked at popular activities people undertake within the school holidays, such as going to the movies and visiting the local pool.

We currently cater to those experiences at Soldiers Point. Then, we thought about ten-pin bowling…

How long did it take to install the bowling alley?

It took a month from start to finish with a few added touches, including neon lights to give the space increased excitement.

How many lanes are there?

There are two lanes. The facility comes with a range of bowling games and challenges, which makes it really fun for all ages.

What has been the guest reaction so far?

They love the new addition to the park. A lot of guests visit us for the many activities that can be experienced inside the park – even when the weather is a bit wet.

Do guests have to book?

Yes, they simply book in for a session at reception.

What other in-park entertainment is there?

Soldiers Point is perfect for young families looking to get away and unwind but who don’t want to load kids in and out of the car for every activity.

We are the ultimate all-weather park with indoor and outdoor facilities that include:

  • Indoor pool and splash play area
  • Outdoor pool and waterslide
  • Indoor play centre for children under five years
  • Purpose-built bike track
  • Village green for impromptu cricket, touch, and soccer games
  • Jump pad
  • Tennis court
