Apex Park is one of Wangaratta's premier recreation reserves, located on the banks of the Ovens River and within easy reach of the city centre via the Sir Thomas Mitchell Bridge.
With expansive lawns and shaded picnic areas, the park is ideal for families, gatherings and outdoor recreation. Facilities include barbecues, picnic tables, toilets, showers, tourism information boards, a children's playground and a popular parkour play space.
Apex Park is also home to a Changing Places facility, providing a fully accessible toilet and shower for people with complex disabilities and their carers. This purpose-built amenity helps ensure visitors of all abilities can enjoy the park and surrounding attractions.
The park is the official starting point of the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail, one of Victoria's most popular cycling routes. It is also the starting point for the Bullawah Cultural Trail, which celebrates the area's rich Aboriginal cultural heritage. Every Saturday morning, Apex Park hosts the start and finish of Wangaratta parkrun.
Throughout the year, the park is a popular venue for community events, including markets, festivals and vehicle displays.
With its riverside setting, quality facilities and access to walking and cycling experiences, Apex Park is a great place to relax, explore and enjoy the outdoors. Please note that flooding can occur during periods of high rainfall, particularly in winter and spring.
