Your Basecamp: BIG4 Breeze Holiday Parks – Eildon

Tucked beside the Goulburn River and surrounded by tranquil bushland, BIG4 Breeze Holiday Parks – Eildon is more than just a place to stay, it’s part of the experience. Whether you’re travelling with the family, as a couple, or with a group of friends, this holiday park has everything you need for a memorable getaway.

Choose from self-contained cabins, or bring your caravan or tent for that classic camping feel. You’ll enjoy modern amenities, camp kitchens, BBQ areas, and family-friendly extras like pedal karts, a jumping pillow, and a swimming pool. It’s also dog-friendly, so the whole family can come along.

Wake up to birdsong, enjoy a coffee on your cabin’s deck, or gather around the fire pit on cool evenings with a local drop in hand.

Explore Lake Eildon

Just minutes from the park is Lake Eildon, one of Victoria's most popular water playgrounds. The main boat ramp is right in Eildon township, so it's an easy launch if you're bringing your own boat, kayak or paddle board. Spend the day boating, waterskiing or paddling the calm waters, or cast a line for Murray Cod, golden perch or trout (a Victorian fishing licence is required, available online or from local outlets).

Prefer a slower pace? Head to Coller Bay for a swim, or pack a picnic and let the kids explore the shoreline.

Hike, Ride and Wander

The surrounding Lake Eildon National Park has walking tracks for every fitness level.

Merlo Lookout is the easy option, a short 1km walk (around 30 minutes one way) from the Wallaby Bay car park, rewarding you with sweeping views over the turquoise waters of Coller Bay.

For something tougher, the Blowhard Spur Track starts at the Perfect Cure Creek car park and climbs steadily to High Camp (1.5km, about 30 minutes) before continuing on to Blowhard Summit (a further 1.7km, roughly 45 minutes) for panoramic views across the lake and towards Mount Buller. It's graded 4 (moderate to hard), with steep, exposed sections, so bring plenty of water and sturdy shoes. Confident walkers can continue on to Merlo Lookout from the summit for another 1km.

You're likely to spot kangaroos, wombats and native birds along the way.

For a bigger day trip, Cathedral Range State Park is roughly a 35 to 40 minute drive from Eildon (worth double-checking against your preferred maps app closer to the day, as conditions and roadworks can shift travel time). The short but rewarding walk from Sugarloaf Saddle to Sugarloaf Peak is 2km return, takes around 2 hours, and is graded moderate to difficult, with a steep, rocky climb rewarded by dramatic ridge-top views.

Local Attractions & Easy Adventures

Just a 15 minute drive from the park, Snobs Creek Falls is a must-see, and it's free to visit. From the car park, a short, well-formed path (around 150m, allow 15 to 20 minutes return) leads down to two viewing platforms over the tiered falls. There are some steps, so it's not suited to prams or limited mobility, but it's an easy, rewarding detour for most visitors.

For something more low-key, wander through the town of Eildon, grab a coffee at a local café, and enjoy the relaxed country atmosphere.

Why Eildon, Why Now?

Whether you’re visiting in summer for water sports, autumn for golden colours, winter for misty mornings and woodfire evenings, or spring for wildflowers and cool bushwalks—BIG4 Breeze Holiday Parks – Eildon puts you right in the heart of it all.

With peaceful surrounds, modern facilities, and a true bushland charm, it’s the perfect base to explore one of Victoria’s most underrated regions.
