For a bigger day trip, Cathedral Range State Park is roughly a 35 to 40 minute drive from Eildon (worth double-checking against your preferred maps app closer to the day, as conditions and roadworks can shift travel time). The short but rewarding walk from Sugarloaf Saddle to Sugarloaf Peak is 2km return, takes around 2 hours, and is graded moderate to difficult, with a steep, rocky climb rewarded by dramatic ridge-top views.

Just a 15 minute drive from the park, Snobs Creek Falls is a must-see, and it's free to visit. From the car park, a short, well-formed path (around 150m, allow 15 to 20 minutes return) leads down to two viewing platforms over the tiered falls.
