Around 20 regular traders come from all around Australia to sell rocks, minerals, fossils, faceting rough, gemstones, opals, hand crafted jewellery, lapidary and silversmithing tools and equipment to an audience of rock enthusiasts. The event attracts hobbyists, collectors and families looking for a fun and educational day out. Children’s activities include a Gem Sifting fossicking activity. Bring your stones for Identification under the Microscope (no valuations) or make a gemstone bracelet. Win Gold nuggets at the Golden Guess and Raffle prizes are unique handmade gemstone and Sterling Silver items.

Visitors to the event can stock up on supplies and speak with Bendigo Gem Club members about learning to cut, polish and facet their own stones and how to make jewellery at the Bendigo facility. The club is a not for profit organisation and proceeds go towards maintaining the premises and equipment. The event showcases members work with displays and demonstrations of activities on offer at the club throughout the year. The Bendigo workshops are unique in the wide range of lapidary and silversmithing equipment available for use and is one of the best equipped community gem/mineral/lapidary facilities in Australia.
