The Kiama Blowhole is Kiama's most famous and spectacular natural wonder, renowned globally as the largest ocean blowhole in the world. For a different experience, the smaller, equally impressive Little Blowhole offers dramatic views and is located just a short drive south of the township. The Famous Kiama Blowhole
The Kiama Blowhole is an iconic landmark that has attracted tourists to the region for over 100 years. It was first documented by explorer George Bass in December 1797.
To witness the full spectacle of the Blowhole, where plumes of water can reach remarkable heights, you need strong seas running from the South East.
Visitor Facilities and Accessibility:
- A dedicated viewing platform is available, complete with disabled access.
- The site has picnic areas and a nearby rock pool.
- Public toilets are open at all times.
- Milk and Honey Cafe is located next to the Visitors Information Centre.
- The Kiama Visitors Information Centre is located nearby and is open daily from 9am to 5pm.
- The Blowhole is only a short walk from the town centre and Kiama railway station.
Discover the Little Blowhole
Shh... some say the Little Blowhole is even better! Located three kilometres south of the main Kiama Township, just off Tingira Crescent, this intimate spot often delivers spectacular, powerful plumes when the seas are from the North East. A perfect, must-see detour on your coastal walk near BIG4 Easts Beach Kiama!
The spray from the Little Blowhole frequently reaches remarkable heights and is best viewed when seas are running from the North East. Visitors can view the spectacle from a dedicated viewing platform or venture onto the rocky foreshore.
From the Little Blowhole, you can also enjoy a scenic walk around the headland that leads south towards Easts Beach and BIG4 Easts Beach Kiama.
